As a democratic and Independent Trade Union, the RBA is run by the members, solely for the members. It has no other interest.
A team of appointed professional Officers support the members, but all decisions, policy, and agreements with employers are made by members elected from the workplace for that purpose.
The President, David Pickles, was elected from the membership and is fully employed at RBA Central Office, subject to re-election every five years. All other elected roles are from the working membership, usually for a one or two year periods.
These are people like you. They work in retail stores, as staff, supervisors, assistant managers or managers. They are fully aware of all aspects of the retail environment, and they take their responsibilities as representatives very seriously. They also make sure that they enjoy what they do, as it is a voluntary, caring role – often unthanked and not at all financially rewarding.
Pictured on the “Team” page are some of our Reps, Delegates and Executive Councillors. All are available should you wish to contact them, via Central Office, and all make regular visits, when time allows, to stores within their district.
